The 'City of San Francisco' was America's most luxurious streamliner when it launched in 1938.

But only one year later, the train's engine slid off the rails into a Nevada riverbed - followed by five aptly named cars: The Presidio, Mission Dolores, Embarcadero, Twin Peaks and Chinatown.

Although survivors and onlookers had walked all over the scene, with some even taking pieces of the train and track as souvenirs, authorities quickly discovered the cause of the derailment: sabotage.

San Francisco International Airport shut down its busiest runway to flight traffic for repairs on Saturday.

Since then, there have been more than 1,200 cancellations or delays, the majority of which are regional or intra-California flights.

The numbers were worse on Monday compared to today, but there are another two weeks to go until repairs are done.

For at least five years, a fire has been burning underground west of Yosemite, and foresters say they have no idea what started it or exactly how big it is.

A ranger said they aren't sure how deep the fire goes or what is fueling it because it's too dangerous to get a close look.

The National Rifle Association is suing the city and county of San Francisco and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for declaring it a domestic terrorist organization earlier this month.

In the lawsuit, which was filed Monday in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco, the NRA claims that SF and the Board of Supervisors "adopted a new government policy: blacklist anyone linked to the NRA."

For the fifth straight year, the Golden State Warriors have had the shortest offseason in the league - one of the few downsides to repeatedly playing in the NBA Finals.

Nonetheless, the team has packed it in this offseason, both in terms of free agent drama and luxurious holidays.
